Stability Note

A stability note records whether an object appears stable enough for display, photography, or digital documentation in a record context.

Stability notes help explain limitations in presentation. An object may be documented digitally rather than moved, handled, or displayed in detail.

  • Look for record-level statements about stability or fragility.
  • Treat the note as documentation, not treatment advice.
  • Do not infer handling instructions from a public record.

Discuss why some objects are represented digitally rather than handled or shown physically.

Public sources will be added as this entry is reviewed and expanded.

This entry explains record-level documentation. It does not provide handling, stabilization, treatment, conservation, preparation, or storage procedures.
