In Anatomy Steward, a number such as AS-OST-SKL-0001 may indicate project, collection area, object group, and sequence.
Why It Matters
Section titled “Why It Matters”A clear numbering structure helps records remain organized, citable, and easier to browse.
It also helps visitors understand that a catalog number is a public record identifier, not necessarily a physical accession number.
How to Read It

AS— Anatomy Steward- a collection area code, such as
OSTfor osteology - a group code, such as
SKLfor skull - a sequence number
Teaching Use
